Pano Clipboard Manager: The Latest Updates for GNOME Shell Users

Pano, a GNOME Shell clipboard organiser with a sophisticated visual interface, recently received a substantial upgrade.

We’re talking about an enhanced user interface, fresh features that users have asked, and a tonne more configuration choices. Oh, and it supports GNOME 44 early on, allowing you to update to Ubuntu 23.04 in April without fear of breaking anything – aah!

In case you missed it, Pano is a GNOME Shell clipboard organiser that employs rich previews for duplicated content categories (e.g., image, links, images, hex codes, text, etc). A horizontal pop-up strip at the bottom of the screen that you can access with a keyboard command or a tray icon contains the content.

Before pasting material, Pano allows you to preview it (plus other details like image resolution, or file location etc). Simply click something to select it, or use the arrow buttons on your computer to move to it, and then press the enter key to duplicate it. It’s easy to use and simple to adore, particularly if you frequently copy and paste media material rather than text.

Pano

A new Pano version is currently being distributed via the GNOME Extensions page. This has several aesthetic improvements, such as new tray symbols and placeholder pictures, uses system typefaces, and now indicates content category using icons from the GNOME icon collection.

You can now alter Pano’s height, change the backdrop colour and opacity, and completely alter how each content category looks, right down to the preview typeface size and banner background and text colour.

duplicating Addresses a lot? Pano now gives you the choice of opening a link in your system’s primary web browser, as some users have requested, or copying the Address to the clipboard for pasting (saving you needing to paste it in the URL bar and do the rest).

If you frequently copy and paste the same thing, you can mark an item as a “favourite” to keep it available in the clipboard even after history is erased or ends. By using the tab key while Pano is open, you can now quickly cycle through the items of your clipboard by content category, such as all text, all online connections, all images, etc.

In addition:

  • When Pano is open, press ctrl + 1 – 9 to copy objects.
  • Activate content-aware copy alerts.
  • symbol text support for the clipboard

All in all, this entertaining clipboard organiser has received a much-needed buff in almost every area.

Pano can be downloaded from the GNOME Extensions website or found by using the Extensions Manager app’s search function. You must first install gir1.2-gda-5.0 and gir1.2-gsound-1.0 in order to use Pano on Ubuntu (if installing them after installing the extension, log out and back in).
