Do you recall when Ubuntu declared it was taking gaming seriously? Well, it hasn’t completely forgotten because it’s requesting players to participate in new trials for its Steam update.
While Canonical views its Steam snap as the true future of the games platform on Ubuntu, Steam is already accessible on the operating system through conventional packaging techniques. That kind of makes sense: using a sandboxed, distinct Snap file system makes it slightly simpler to accommodate the maze of 32-bit libraries older games require.
Since releasing Steam as quickly as possible under the “Early Access” name, we have been working frantically to fix problems and make sure it functions properly. We’ve conducted our own testing, but now we need your assistance to submit game reviews for your personal favorites and guarantee that we have the broadest coverage of all Steam games, the statement reads.

How to Run a Steam Snap Test
You must first install Steam from the candidate channel in order to participate. All that’s left to do is load and enjoy titles from your Steam library after you’ve finished. Ubuntu requests that you make a game report using the report tool it has packaged inside of the Steam snap once you’ve given them a fair try.
Together, let’s work through that.
Installing the Steam snap prototype involves:
sudo snap install --candidate steam
It will take some time to download, and then you must access it, log in, and establish up your account.
When you’re ready to begin testing, execute these instructions (just once) first:
sudo snap connect steam:hardware-observe
sudo snap connect steam:system-observe
Install the game, enjoy it, and when you’re prepared to share your impressions, run:
steam.report “Your Title”
This launches a form in your online browser with a ton of information already filled in. (feel free to review and edit this).
Ubuntu requests that you put the protondb rating as a label (for example, pdb-gold) and the game-report label before pressing the send button.
