Fedora 38 Beta is Now Available to Download

Before a stable version is anticipated for late April, Fedora 38 beta is already accessible for distribution.

As to be expected, Fedora 38 includes a ton of changes, and through this beta version, developers and fans have plenty of chances to test them out in actual use.

The third-party repositories window in GNOME Software’s Fedora 38 Workstation Beta provides access to the complete range of software on Flathub as well as GNOME 44 (which is packed with changes; see the summary referenced).

LXQt packages are now available for ARM 64, and Fedora’s KDE spin now uses Wayland to show the SDDM login interface. Fedora 38 Beta’s desktop offerings include Xfce 4.18, GNOME 44, and KDE Plasma 5.27.

Two new Fedora Spins make their debut: Fedora Budgie, which delivers the cutting-edge Sway window manager, and Fedora Sway, which provides the most recent Budgie desktop environment on top of a Fedora Linux foundation.

Additionally:

  • Linux kernel 6.2
  • Noto fonts used for more languages
  • GCC 13 system compiler
  • systemd unit timeout reduced to 45 second
  • Modernized Live Media
  • Initial support for unified kernel images
  • ImageMagick 7.x

All in all, a collection of well-appreciated upgrades that enhance this leading Linux distribution.
